Toshiba’s new wireless adapter gives external hard drives wireless connectivity

External hard drives are a great way to stuff away data you can’t or don’t want to store on your local hard drive, but unless yours was made in the last couple of years, it likely doesn’t have wireless access, restricting it to use with one device at a time. However, by plugging your drive into Toshiba’s Canvio Wireless Adapter, you can use it with up to eight different devices simultaneously, essentially teaching an old dog a new trick.

The Canvio Wireless Adapter plugs into a wall outlet on one end, and sports a single full-size USB port, which you plug your external hard drive into. By giving your external drive wireless connectivity, you can upload files to it, download stuff from it, and stream video/audio from it. It’s built-in Pass Through mode ensures that you can connect both to your drive as well as to the Internet simultaneously
